After long time coding, I finally finiished the facelift om my website I hope you will enjoy the new design, where I have made several changes in colors. I have also replace the sidebar-menu with a top-menu, which means I get more space in the width of the site. The new website offers also better support for different platforms, which means you can use the site on your smartphone and tablet. |

Today I recieved my Boltek back from repair at Boltek in Canada It was a bad "connector" that needed to be exchanged. Boltek also sent me new power supply and upgraded to latest firmware. I have recieved at very good service from Boltek My Boltek is now connected and works - see more at the lighting page |

Unfortunately my Boltek lightningdetector is broken, and I will not buy a new one (very expensive). I have been in contact with Boltek and they presume its my reciever that is broken. I have testet with antenna from Christian at Langesø and have sent my antenna to Henkka from nordicwather.net for test. Both antennas seems to work. In the future I will only present strikes from my Blitzortung lightningdetector. In the next time I will correct my pages where I present data from my Boltek. My rain gauge stopped working yesterday. I expected it to be a spider that had choosen to build its web around the tipper in the gauge. Unfortunately it was not a spiderweb. Today I have replaced the reed-switch and not the rain gauge is working again. At the same time I cleaned the switches with contact cleaner. |

Today I finally got my page with our solar plant working. After a software update in our datalogger of the solar plant, I have had problems updating the database. I have also changed the gauges that present solarproduction and solar radiation, so the page now should work in all browsers (including iPad and tablets) A big thank you goes to Henkka from nordicweather.net. New Lightning detector 14. October 2013

Today a new lightning detector was installed from blitzortung.org The detector registers strikes up to 3,000 kilometers from Silkeborg. All strikes are triangulated - which means that if at least 2 other detectors from blitzortung.org has "catched" the same strike, an accurate location can be calculated. The antenna of the detector is made of 4 ordinary coax antenna cables, which is formed as 4 rings with a diameter of 40 cm. New WX-computer 21. August 2013

Today a new WX-computer was installed - a Acer Revo RL80. The computer is only 21x21x3,5 cm and is very soundless. Meassured over 3 days it uses about 18 watt The first thing I dit was to replase the 500 GB Harddisk with a 240 GB SSD disc, wichs made the computer really fast. After that I added another 4 GB RAM - so it now runs with 8 GB RAM in total. See more in the Gallery in the menu. Here you can see how I disasembled the computer to replace the harddisc. The website has unfortunately been down several times caused by server crashes. Accordning to this, I have now moved host from Serverloft to Hetzner. Today whe website has been offline the most of the night. It was up and running again about 10am. The problem was caused by bad harddisks. After replacement the Apache server would not startup automatic. The server is a dedicated webserver from Serverloft, and they have so far given great support. |

Powercut 28. May 2013

Unfortunately we had a powercut today, which caused that my wx-computer could not deliver data to my website. That also caused that the wx-computer would not start up after the power went back. Luckly I was able to import most of the lost data, because my Weather Station has a battery backup. The power cut was caused by a cut in a highvoltage wire in the area, and it lasted about 45 minutes. See a status from EnergiMidts (our power supplyers) website:

For my great horror, I saw that all the outdoor sensors from the weather station showed "---" I decided to sleep on it and this morning I went thru all the wires from the console to the outdoor sensorunit (ISS) Everything seems to be okay - but a lot of moisture was inside the ISS. I dried this out with a hair dryer and fortunately the readings started up again. |

Today I installed an original Davis Raingauge Heater The Raingauge Heater melts snow, so its possible to meassure how much precibitation is registered when snowing. According to our National Weather Service (DMI) is the guideline that 1 cm. of snow corresponds to approx. 1 mm. of rain. Nordic Weather Network has got a minor update. We have found out, that DMI (Danish Weather Service) are offering free seatemperature data This means, that we now can offer seatemperature in the Northe Sea, Scagerak, Easter SEa and the western coast of Norway. If seaice should develop this will be shown too on the map. Server rebuild 24. - 26. March 2012

My webhost (Henkka from nordicweather.net) who runs our webserver has made a rebuild of the webserver. This has meant that the website has been ustable and down most of Saturaday 26 March 2012. The webserver is up and running again as normal and will be optimized further the comming weeks. This should hopefully mean, that the website will be faster and more stable. The forecast meteogram has been improved. Now all forecast data is shown, when you hover mouse over the graph. (Remember to click the buttons under the graph to show other parameters New gauges, which have the same design, and hopefully gives a more "calm" impression "Mouse-over" function. By hovering mouse over the red/blue boxes under the gauges, more weatherdata is shown Popupgraphs works in the same way as before. Click on the little graph-icon above the gauges () NOTE - you can click the headers above the gauges to see more detailed weatherdata and statistics Forecast page has also got a "facelift": The forecast meteogram has been improved. The lightning calendar on the lightningpage has been updated, so it now support units without Flash. I have converted all my excisting strikevideos from .flv formatet (Flash) to .mp4 format, which is supportet by all common browsers and Apple devises (for example iPad) I plan to do the same with my webcam videoclips - this will though be a bigger project, as all my webcam clips back to 1. New webserver 26. March 2011

Todah we moved webserver from Gigahost to a dedicated webserver, which is hosted at Hetzner in Germany. The webserver is runned by Henkka from www.nordicweather.net and we are aprox. 10 websites sharing the webserver. The webserver has many horsepower, which hopefully will result in faster website. Among features it has cache server, so all static files (pictures etc.) are cached and therefor only get downloaded one time by the users browser, which cache the files. A big THANKS to Henkka for all the help with the servermove. |

A little script saved every 2 minutes an images of our lightningmap, and when day is gone all the images are put together to a videofilm and then uploaded to the webserver. Today we installed a new lightningdetector (Boltek LD-250). The Boltek can register both direction and range to the strikes (aprox. 900 km. from Silkeborg) A HUGE THANK YOU to René Møller from www.rmi-vejr.dk for the extraordinary gift. We also installed software to registr strieks, which can be seen here Lightning page We use the software Nexstorm which uploads strike data every 5 seconds to the Lightning page. Got the raingague heater insulated. For insulation I used bubbleplast covered with tinfoil and closed with dutchtape. It seems to work. I placed some snow in the raingauge and it melted in about 10-15 minutes. See pictures here >> |

Humiditysensor replaced 27. December 2009

Temperature- and humiditysensor was replaced. I have for a periode wondered about the very low humitity readings. Therefor I decided to change
the sensor. Right after the replacement the humidity rised 10% and now it shows a more realistic measurement. |

New WX-computer 24. November 2009

Today we installed a new WX-computer - a Acer Revo 3610. The computeren is only 18x18x3 cm and is very silent. Measured over 3 days it uses only 20 watt, so it is lowpower compared to our old WX-computer At start it gave big problems getting wx-software working. The reason for that it came with a 64-bit version of Windows 7. A big thank you goes to Mogens from Voer Vejr |

Today we mounted a FARS, which ventilates the "house" where the temp sensor is located. The FARS I was sent from Christian from
Langesø Weather, as a thank you for helping him with his website. I think is very generous of Christian and I owe hime a big THANK YOU.  Facts about FARS: FARS for common use. Airflow is 2,5 m/s. Nearly up to 75% effective to reduce the effect of solarradiation. Solarcell powered fan runs during day. As there is no battery backup the fan will simply stop at the evening, where the effect of the solar radiation falls. The set contains fan, solarcell panel and radiation plates shown in the pic above. |

Modified the raingauge from 0,3 mm (0,01 inch) to 0,2 mm. In the manual the following is registered: Installation of Metric Measurement Adapter (optional) The rain collector tipping bucked mechanism contains a standard measurements weight magnet that takes measurements in 0,01". The ISS hardware kit contains a metric adapter that adjusts the weight of the tipping bucket mechanism so that it reports 0,2 mm metric measurements for every tip of the bucket. To install the metric adapter: 1. Find the metric adapter included in the hardware. 2. Locate the magnet between the arms of the bucket. 3. Open the arms slighly with one hand while pulling the magnet out with the other. 4. Separete an end cap from one end of the magnet. 5. Slide the magnet, exposted end of the magnet first, into the open slot of the metric adapter. 6. Insert the metric adapter and magnet between the arms of the bucket, with the solid side of the metric adapter facing up |

the weatherstation If this happens an e-mail will be sent, so the problem can be solved. Problems with flatline of weatherdata happens rarely, and is most often caused by a disconnection between the USB connection from the weatherstation and the computer. When it happens the weather data will not be updated in Weather Display, and data will be staying at the same value until Weather Display is restarted. |

Today a new weatherstation was mounted - a "Davis Vantage Pro2", which I was given by Ole Jørgensen from
Fensmark Vejret. I owe Ole a big thank you. The installation went well - but the anemometer
started to go crazy because the weathercomputer wasent grounded. When I got the powercable to the computer grounded the problem went away
The change from Lacross WS-2305 to Davis Vantage Pro2 was real easy in Weather Display. We also use the software Weatherlink. To be able to use both weather programs we use the program "VirtualVP" from Softwx. |
